Sengelmann Hall is a fully restored 1890's Texas Dance Hall, located in Schulenburg, Texas - halfway between Houston and San Antonio and down the road from Austin. Join us for live music and dancing, step up to the bar for a classic pre-prohibition cocktail, and enjoy authentic home cooked cuisine with a Euro-Texas twist.

For generations, couples met here, married here and danced here every weekend as they built their lives together. Carry on the Texas dance hall tradition with your wedding, reception or private event held at Sengelmann Hall. We offer live music during our Big Weekend or Holiday Shows.

SENGELMANN HALL RESTAURANT

At the Sengelmann Hall Restaurant, we pride ourselves in offering multi-cultural cuisine, inspired by the history, culture and the music, which surrounds us. We combine Old World European recipes with innovative flavors and an unmistakable Texas taste.

It is important to us that we use local meats, produce and fresh farm eggs whenever possible, including fresh Fayette County beef and sausage. Our recipes reflect the culinary heritage of Schulenburg's founding families, along with secret family recipes from the founder's wife, Hana Hillerova Harper, a native of Prague. Our executive culinary team carefully creates signature menu items each weekend to make the most of our local farms, ranches and orchards.

A few of our favorite German-Czech specialty dishes include homemade Topinka bread, Holubki (Slavic cabbage rolls pronounced haw-LOOB-kee) and our popular Breaded Chicken or Pork Schnitzel, served with garlic, mashed potatoes. And, no Sunday Brunch would be complete without our secret family Czech recipe for Houby S Vejci (Mushrooms and Eggs pronounced how-BA vay-tzee).

Don't forget about dessert! Our baker prepares fresh-baked homemade desserts daily, so enjoy a slice after your meal or take home a special treat for the whole family! Authentic German, Czech and family recipes are the inspiration for our house-made rye bread, Mother's Chocolate Cream pie, fresh banana pudding and seasonal fresh fruit strudel.

When you call for reservations, please inquire about our weekend specials.

SIPS & SUDS:

Enjoy a pre-prohibition cocktail in our authentic Texas saloon, join your friends on the picnic tables in our biergarten shaded by live oaks, or watch the sunset from our balcony above Main Street.

Drinks at Sengelmann Hall echo the spirits of generations past with a pre-Prohibition era cocktail list. Cocktails are handmade using top-shelf spirits, fresh juices, house-made syrups and a variety of old-fashioned bitters.

The bar hosts 14 beers on tap with particular focus on Czech and German favorites and Texas microbrews. Upstairs, the dance hall serves up Sengelmann Hall's secret recipe, Whiskey Punch. (And it packs quite a punch!)

You can also enjoy a selection of great late-night snacks, traditional German and Czech bar fare and hot, homemade soups inspired by secret family recipes.

The bar downstairs is an exact replica of the mahogany bar that adorned Sengelmann Hall from 1894 until the 1940's. And be sure to stop by the upstairs bar on your way to the balcony. This unique bar is built into the original bar and hatcheck booth, which the Sengelmann brothers covered in chicken wire to discourage theft!

DANCE HALL:

Join us upstairs in the fully restored Dance Hall and dance the night away on our original 115-year-old, long-leaf pine dance floor! We encourage you to check out our music schedule on our Web site, purchase advance tickets and learn more about our weekend getaway packages and/or free upcoming dances!

At Sengelmann Hall everybody is welcome! Kids 12 and under receive free admission. Student Discounts available! You can buy tickets for all our shows in advance on our Web site, over the phone or in person at the ticket booth an hour before each show.
